Before the first session: You would contact me by email or phone. We can have an informal chat to arrange a day and a time that suits us both. You may want to ask a few questions.
The first meeting is an assessment session. It is also an opportunity for us to see if we want to work together. If we both agree, we can continue with subsequent sessions. The sessions last 50 minutes and are usually weekly, on the same day and time each week. We will discuss how many sessions you would like or need.
During the session, I will ask you about your feelings, emotions, thoughts and behaviour patterns. I may delve deeper into your childhood to ascertain where a pattern was established. I may set you some work to take home with you, so that you can try them in between sessions.
Towards the end of counselling, we will work on an ending. I always like to encourage clients to mark the ending in a manner that suits them. This is an important part of the therapeutic work
